Government has approved a marked increase in the 2026 state budget for Culture

Budget Growth:
The overall 2026 state budget expenditures will reach 3.63 trillion drams, with current expenditures rising notably. The MESCS allocation for education, science, culture, and sports will be about 420.2 billion drams - a reported 57 billion drams or 15.7% increase compared to the previous year.​

Strategic Priorities:
The budget surge is part of a broader shift to invest in social infrastructure, creative capacity, and talent pipeline. At least 200 culture-related events are planned for 2026, alongside enhanced support for arts institutions, festivals, youth programs, and capital upgrades to cultural facilities.​

Capital Expenditure & New Initiatives:
704 billion drams (5.9% of GDP) will be dedicated to capital investments, which include cultural construction projects, museum upgrades, and creative hubs. School and kindergarten development are a parallel focus, boosting arts and culture education at the grassroots level.​
